Carrie Essex MSN , CPNP:
Born in Boston and raised locally, Carrie Essex returned to the
Foxboro area and joine d the team at Pediatric Specialists in January
2001. After graduating from the Dana Hall School in Wellesley,
Carrie attended the University of Chicago and received a Bachelors
of Science in Psychology. Following graduation, she was a Pre-IRTA
fellow at the National Institutes of Health, working in the Department
of Child Health and Human Development. Carrie continued her education
at Yale University, earning an MSN with honors in 2000. At Yale
her coursework included specialized training in child development,
school based health care, and day care consulting; she completed
her graduate thesis on depression in children ages 9-12 years.
Carrie was awarded the Sylvia Palmer Bellos Lecture prize for her
community service, and was accepted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honors
Society of Nursing. Before coming to Pediatric Specialists Carrie
worked in southern Africa, at the Princess Marina Hospital in Gabarone,
Botswana. Sponsored by the Harvard AIDS Institute, she worked on
the pediatric wards with the resident pediatricians and completed
a survey on maternal awareness of HIV status.
Within the field of pediatrics, Carrie has special interest in
dermatology and first aid. She also enjoys teaching, and precepts
nurse practitioner students for Boston College William F. Connell
School of Nursing. Carrie lives locally with her husband and daughter.
When not working she enjoys yoga and pilates, kayaking during the
summer, and when able, traveling. |
