Offering Professional Speakers, Free Educational Materials,
Resource Information, Support & "Tips From the Trenches"
By increasing members knowledge about food allergies through
education and support, the goal of this group is to foster
empowerment and promote effective coping skills. In this way we aim
to assist parents with managing difficult food related tasks;
communicating with school officials, healthcare professionals and
local legislators; and in developing themselves as positive role
models whereby their children can learn strategies for coping
effectively with the daily challenges of living with food allergies.
- Learn practical strategies to advocate for your childs needs
- Connect with a network of families dealing with the same
issues
- Discover the benefits of sharing information; the success of
others and tips from the trenches are invaluable resources
- Qualified professional speakers provide ongoing education
- Resource materials, books, journal articles, videos, etc.
available upon request
- Individual appointments with the group coordinator (a Masters
of Social Work student) can be arranged
- Opportunities for community organizing to promote changes at
the state and local level available
"We are all in this together" (Furlong, 1981) and together we can
make it easier to keep our children safe at home, in school and
while participating in recreation and leisure activities.
