INFLUENZA IMMUNIZATIONS: 2010-2011 SEASON
August 4, 2010: Announcement #1-We are currently beginning to plan our yearly administration of inluenza vaccines. This year the vaccines will contain both the seasonal flu as well as the H1N1 (swine) component. If your child has never received flu vaccine and is under 11 years old he/she will need two doses separated by at least a month. If your child only received one dose of H1N1 last season it would be preferrable to receive two doses this year. Flu vaccine is not administered to children under 6 months.Although we have not yet received supplies we are beginning to plan clinics for both offices. Our initial effort in early September will be to immunize our asthmatics and other high risk patients. If supply is adequate we will also begin immunizing all wishing to receive the flu vaccine. We will be posting clinic dates on this site and any other information that we feel will be necessary. Hopefully without any unexpected shortages we should be able to immunize all our patients wishing to receive the vaccine. Again we will have some supply of the live intranasal vaccine as well for those who wish to receive it and are not excluded by age or chronic illness such as asthma or immune issues.
